Project 66' 250s

   On October 22, 2010 I purchased a 1966 Mercedes 250s. This year and model hold a spot in my heart. My dad owned a '66 when we lived in San Diego, he had welded in a new back end and swapped in a 2.8 liter. He sold it when we were moved to Washington, and at first I didn't really mind, but as the years went by I realized I really wanted to own one. I looked for months before I came across this one, and what a catch she is. I have paper work dating back to the first sale in 1966. From my understanding, the car sat in a garage for around 10 years, then sat outside for a few months. 

  She would turn but wouldn't start, and when we got her home we saw that it must have been a carb issue. We towed the car to Carb Connections in Kirkland, WA, and just as we suspected they needed to be rebuilt. After Carb Conn rebuilt and tuned them, the motor sounded very healthy, however the transmission wasn't shifting into 3rd, it was slipping. There is a gentlemen by the name of Rob that owns Benz Friendz here in the Seattle area. He has a warehouse filled with old-timer parts and he had the 250s transmission that we needed.
  The '66 would become my daily driver and slowly I would get her back to where I wanted her. A few months later I had NorthWest AutoSalon do a full exterior detail. They attempted to get the original 46 year old paint back to it's former glory, and boy did they do a great job. I found a set of pretty rare NOS Cibie 5 3/4 headlights and had NWAS put protective film on them. I'm very pleased with how she looks.
  The plan for the next few months is to take the seats out and sand the floor boards, put a rust preventive coat of paint and then install brand new carpet. Since purchasing the '66 I have tossed the idea around of Airbags and to this day I can't decide if thats the way I want to go...

the stance movement??

As many have seen in the last few years the stance movement is growing by the hour. I myself am guilty of loving stanced cars. But it also makes you think if this trend will die out because of how ever so popular it's getting. If that makes any sense. There are hundreds of blogs about this style and hundreds of kids that dig it. I've seen some terrible examples with too much poke and stretch and I've seen some amazing ones. With all the internet sites blowing up with these cars people are starting to make some silly mods, "LOUD" mods to get peoples attention and "stand out" In my opinion this is killing the scene. I love seeing the purpose built track cars, or the very clean simply modded daily drivers just as much as I love seeing the slammed to the ground daily drivers.

Here are a few cars that may not be "stanced" in today's definition of the term but have an aggressive drop with a lot of presence.

Once again it has been way too long since my last post.
Just an update:
Eve has lost a header bolt and I have the worst exhaust leak, sounds terrible. I am waiting to order a stud kit from turner and new gaskets from pelican parts.

I have a few new pics that were taken at M car day hosted by Griot's Garage. Also a few I snapped after. Then there's a quick video of my exhaust, which I have straight pipes that lead to the longest Magnaflow exhaust I could find.

something different

I'm really liking this car, I know its all stickered up which loses the clean aspect of a car but something to me is appealing about it. Very in your face "don't care what you say" style. Not to mention the car is slammed.

addicting

This e36 M3 belongs to a guy named Paul (darksidee36), I have loved this car for as long as I can remember. Very sexy in dakar yellow and then just awesome in British racing green. From the suspension set up to the custom m5 cooling ducts this car is just addicting to look at. I think it may be one of the most influential e36's out there.

It's been along time since my last post.
Alot have been done to Eve. New suspension, new rear subframe mounts, new trailing arm bushings, new wheels, new tires, new look!!!!

long time..

It's been awhile. My sister came up for Christmas break from san diego and then new years party and now first week of new quarter so haven't really had the feel to post.
I got a new bike, well kinda, its a late 70's or early 80's univega nuovo sport.
It was super dirty so I polished up all the aluminum and waxed parts of the fame. I needed a new chain so I went to Greggs Cycle shop (voted best bike shop in Seattle) and got a 6 speed chain and while I was there bought some new pedals and clips. At the moment I am not doing the fixed gear conversion as this is just a cruise bike but I'm not denying the fact that I'm tempted to convert it. Sorry for the camera phone pic.


As for the Eve she is sitting cozy in the garage as the weather was pretty extreme here with a lot of snow and now rain. Hopefully it clears up next week. I did take of the sunroof and scrapped the peeling paint off, going to have to buff it out and see how it turns out. Other than that I am selling my 18in Ray Engineering Itc-x wheels hopefully soon and changing her up a little.

clean and mean

These two e36's are very nicely done.
I've always been a fan of the highrise ltw wing and both cars pull it off very well due to the reiger front splitter which balances out the larger wing. Even though the silver m3 has bbs lm reps they still look good.

This is one badass 964 with the rear duck spoiler like the old 70's 911 2.7rs the flat black ruf wheels. It's just all around clean and mean.

The e30 m3 is still killing it getting second in the 2008 ADAC 3-Stadte Rallye in Germany.

new kicks!

My shoes arrived yesterday, they're Macbeth Elliots in cement color. I have been a fan of their shoes for quite a few years and still have my first pair. I really like the look and love the fact that Macbeth has lyrics put in by the bands that are in the Macbeth family.

inspirations

Yesterday a thread was made on bimmerforums about who has inspired you with their bmw. The thread went down fast with negativity but that made me think.. I have been inspired by all types of cars not just other E30 M3 owners. But these 8 happen to be all E30 M3's, they are for the most part simple yet utterly perfect in their own ways.
